Acompany and Hakuhodo DY Holdings Jointly Develop an Image Similarity Checker Tool
Acompany and Hakuhodo DY Holdings Jointly Develop Tool to Automatically Assess Copyright Infringement Risks for AI-Generated Images
Acompany Inc. (Headquarters: Nishi-ku, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture; CEO: Ryosuke Takahashi; hereafter referred to as Acompany), a company driving Privacy DX, has collaborated with Hakuhodo DY Holdings Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Masayuki Mizushima; hereafter referred to as Hakuhodo DY Holdings) to jointly develop a tool that automatically evaluates the risk of copyright infringement in images generated by AI. Following trial implementation within select internal divisions of the Hakuhodo DY Group, the tool will be rolled out company-wide within the group, with further plans for business expansion.

Rising Importance of Similarity Checks for AI-Generated Content
In recent years, the use of generative AI has been growing even in the field of advertising creative production. However, concerns have been raised that AI-generated images could resemble existing copyrighted works, potentially constituting copyright infringement. From the perspective of risk management, ensuring the appropriate use of generative AI and delivering safe advertising creatives to client companies has heightened the need for similarity checks on AI-generated content.
Manually checking the similarity of generated images poses a challenge and involves a significant amount of manual work and time.
In response to this situation, Acompany, in collaboration with Hakuhodo DY Holdings, has developed an image similarity checker tool. This tool automatically evaluates the copyright infringement risk of AI-generated images and enables users to verify those risks efficiently.
Automatically Detecting Similar Existing Images on the Web and Enabling More Accurate Searches with Automated Keyword Generation
The image similarity checker tool searches the web for images similar to the one being analyzed, automatically detecting and displaying similar existing images in order of their similarity. Additionally, the tool generates keywords and features related to the image automatically, enabling more precise searches for similar images. This functionality helps ensure the safety and reliability of creatives proposed to client companies.

Features and Functions of the Image Similarity Checker Tool
Image Cropping Function:
Allows users to import an image and specify a section for targeted searches.
Similar Image Search:
Enables searches using Google’s image search feature combined with customizable keywords.
Image Keyword Extraction Function:
Uses generative AI to extract keywords from the features of the target image, enabling more accurate searches for similar images.
Automatic Similarity Evaluation:
Assesses the target image and similar images using multiple algorithms, ranks them by similarity, and highlights images that exceed a certain threshold.
The tool has completed trial implementation within select divisions of the Hakuhodo DY Group, and preparations are underway for its rollout across the entire group. By leveraging this tool, the aim is to ensure the safety of creatives proposed to client companies and establish a system that reduces the risks associated with advertising strategies utilizing generative AI. At this stage, the tool is intended for internal use within certain divisions of the Hakuhodo DY Group. Moving forward, Acompany and Hakuhodo DY Holdings will discuss the business expansion of the tool and explore its application in broader fields.
